About Kevin Lafone, OD
An Eastern North Carolina native, Dr. Lafone grew up "down east" in Kinston. After graduating high school, he attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he received a B.A. in Chemistry. Following four years in Wilmington, Dr. Lafone moved to Philadelphia, PA to attend the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. While there, he received a B.S. in Optics and a Doctorate of Optometry. During all clinical rotations while in optometry school, Dr. Lafone was awarded "Clinical Honors."
After Philadelphia, Dr. Lafone returned to NC where he completed Clinical Internships at Catawba Valley Eye in Hickory, NC and at the Brenner VA Hospital in Salisbury.
With his education complete, Dr. Lafone joined the staff of Newton Vision Center where he worked as an associate Optometrist for 2 years. However, the calling of owning his own practice combined with the appeal of the Lake Norman area led him to leave Newton, and purchase Carolina Eye Care from the prior owner, Dr. Colvin O'Donnell in 2004.

Dr. Lafone has been married to his wife, Ashlyn, since 1998, and they have two children, Nicole and Greyson. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, photography, and all things Barbecue.

A North Carolina native, Trish has been a part of the Carolina Eye Care team since 2007 as our lead Technician. Her genuine care for our patients is the key to her success!
Kelly joined the Carolina Eye Care team in 2016, and utilizes her keen eye for style on our Optical Sales floor. When selecting that perfect pair, you can count on Kelly to help you make the right choice!
Alyssa joins our team with over a decade of experience in eye care, and specifically eye glass selection, fitting and fabrication. Her knowledge and experience with frame and lens options make it a breeze to select the perfect pair of glasses!
Leah joined the Carolina Eyecare team in 2025. She comes to us with five years of optical experience in frame and eyeglass sales. Leah is an avid dog lover, and enjoys spending weekends with her dog Daisy.
Mechele came to Carolina Eye Care with extensive experience in medical reception and billing. While she developed her skills mostly in orthodontic practices, she's transitioned nicely into eye care! Mechele resides in Davidson.
Kat came to us from the banking world, but prior to banking she worked in optometry for over a decade. Kat's glad to be back in eye care, and we're happy to have her! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her Doodle or on a golf course.
