Telemedicine Prescription Renewals
On May 11, 2020, Carolina Eye Care will reopen for routine eye examinations and office visits. While the rules are relaxing, there are still real concerns about the spread of COVID-19 at this time. If you remain concerned about Social Contact, you may want to consider Telemedicine.
If you're due for your annual examination, and in desperate need of more contact lenses or new glasses, Carolina Eye Care has developed an option for you. In March of 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services relaxed medical privacy rules temporarily to allow offices such as ours to participate in Telemedicine. What this means to you is that we can now offer prescription updates and we can order contact lenses for you without an in-person visit.
To qualify for a prescription renewal through a Telemedicine Conference, you must be a current patient of Carolina Eye Care, and your last examination must have been within the last two years. Also, you must not currently be experiencing symptoms that would indicate a problem with your vision or ocular health. If you are experiencing symptoms, Carolina Eye Care can see you on an emergency or medical basis as needed. Finally, to renew your prescription through a Telemedicine Conference, there must be a reasonable expectation that you have experienced no significant changes in your vision in your current prescription.
